Uba Convocation ceremony: Dubbed a Fashion Show

 The 11th convocation ceremony of the university of Bamenda, that took place on the 16th of December 2021 was celebrated in front of the chancellery. The much anticipated occasion brought together people from within Bamenda and even out of the city. With this, one can only think of the variety of cultural atire that was displayed around the university campus. Sadly enough we had a handful of traditional atires and found more of cooperate wears, which depicts how people have become engrossed in the western culture of suits and prom gowns.

These and more were some of the outfits that made news on Campus yesterday. Most ladies had human hair that can be sold at exorbitant prices on their head. All this was in a bid to look better than their peers. With some really looking indecent, we could say living the celebrity lifestyle is one of the things that brings us to this display of fashion

Rocking his old timers outfit

It will not be out of place to dub the convocation ceremony as a fashion show after witnessing this graduating engineering student rocking the old timers outfit. The photo is making rounds on every WhatsApp status,and for obvious reasons which is taking us back to the 60s. Living every bit of the moment, it is usually a day to remember for both graduates and guests who always gather to celebrate success.

    This generation is becoming on becoming some will even go to the extent of borrowing money to purchase the hair just to impress or compete with their fellow classmates. We should learn to be contented with what we have. Some of these things will push us to our early grave

Gender based violence and people living with disabilities

 Gender based violence is an umbrella term used for any harmful act perpetrated against some one's will and that is ascribed to socially ascribed norms between male and females. Gender based violence seems to be very rampant in our societies today as it takes varied shapes and colors, and sophisticated forms deep rooted in our society People living with disability have double vulnerability when it comes to Gender Based Violence. They suffer the effects of Gender based violence too just like Normal people.  According to Madam Sylvie a GBV advocate and activist, She says "In the case of rape a person with disability might not have the preference to run or fight back, probably because she is visually impaired, or crippled.
